Juri Henley-Cohn was born in San Francisco but raised, for the most part, in New Haven, CT. He's a graduate of Harvard University, where he majored in social anthropology. While an undergrad, he appeared in over 11 shows. Some of the highlights were Richard III, The Stranger, Glengarry Glen Ross, and Romeo & Juliet.
After college Juri moved to Los Angeles where he began studying regularly with Larry Moss in his professional class. Over the years, Juri has continued to relish the opportunity to work with Mr. Moss whenever he can and he's also sought out and studied with many other fine teachers such as Patsy Rodenburg, Karl Bury, Jean-Louis Rodrigue, Ilse Pfeifer, and Tim Philips to name a few. In addition to Mr. Moss, Juri's other main mentor is Bob Krakower. Mr. Krakower has a had a huge impact on Juri's work and he continues to work with Mr. Krakower as often as he can.
These days Juri lives in Guilford, CT with his gorgeous and talented wife, Lana, their sons, Bodhi and Hanjin, and their dog, Little Betsy. He works regularly in film, TV, and theater and loves every minute of it, appearing in such shows as Halston, The Loudest Voice, When They See Us, Divorce, Blindspot, Jessica Jones, and Orange Is The New Black (to name a few) as well as treading the boards in NYC and regionally. Recently he was nominated for a Helen Hayes award (The James MaCarthur Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Play) for his work in Round House Theater's production of Oslo. Juri's full filmography can be found on IMDB here.
As a writer, Juri is the the co-author (along with writer/producer Michael Din) of Relative Insanity, a contemporary screen adaptation of Chekhov’s classic play, The Seagull, (check out some press about the project on IMDB here). He's also co-written, with Josh Jonas, an adaptation of the successful stage play, Capture Now. And the three of them, Juri, Michael, and Josh, are now hard at work on an Indiana Jones style caper set in the worlds of art and academia, titled The Fogg Affair.
Outside of the entertainment industry, and spending time with his family, Juri loves reading, going to the theater, studying Dharma, and spending as much time in the great outdoors as possible, particularly if it involves kiteboarding.
